Last Monday 15 December the dissertation projects developed by 2013-2014 Master’sstudents of Car Design in collaboration with Volkswagen Group Design were finally unveiled. The annual display of design work was well attended by industry professionals and faculty including Alessandro Dambrosio and Tancredi de Aguilar (Volkswagen), Filippo Perini (Lamborghini), Julio Lozano (Seat), Klemens Rossnagel (Audi), Antonio Rosti and Arrigo Gallizio (Italdesign) Alessandro Salvagnin and Michele Tinazzo (tutors at SPD and Lamborghini designers), Michele Leonello, Jun-ho Choi, Mauro del Pelo, Manuela Bonaiti, Marcello Cannarile and many others. The various review sessions conducted by the different guests throughout the day allowed students to gain interesting insights on the current evolution of the profession, as well as to receive valuable feedback from leading designers and prospective employers on the projects produced over a very busy academic year. The representatives of the Volkswagen Group that supports the Master’s course in Transportation and Car Design with a programme ofscholarships were impressed at the level of the students’
presentation. Ten thesis projects focussed on three different brands – Volkswagen, Seat and Lamborghini – and encompassed both exterior and interior design, physical and virtual modelling. Alessandro Dambrosio, Head of Interbrand Design at VW Konzern and supervisor of the collaborative project between SPD and Volkswagen, praised the work of the students as highly professional and warmly encouraged the young designers to build on this demostration of talent and vision for their future career. Together with Dambrosio, Filippo Perini, Klemens Rossnagel, Julio Lozano and the other colleagues commented on many details and engaged the students in question and answer sessions giving them useful suggestions and advice. Seat, Volkswagenand Audi already signed someinternship agreement with high potential students and more opportunities are expected to come from other car makers.
