A body of work from different decades by sculptor Elizabeth King is currently on view at gallery DANESE/COREY in New York City (September 11 – October 10, 2015). The show presents two distinct bodies of King’s work: a collection of hyper realistic head sculptures from the 1980s and 1990s as well as some of her latest artworks consisting of small-scale wooden limbs.

The two collections from different decades of her creative work were combined to serve as studies of a fragmented selfhood. Upon entering the exhibition, guest are immediately confronted by the mannequin-like sculptures of hyper realistic faces (many of which are self-portraits). The full body of work shown in this exhibition communicates the contemporary idea of a “self” with the ability to be transformed by machines and technology.
