  • Accurately sketch a fashion figure, fabric, and garment.
  • Employ fashion theories, historical perspective, and elements and principles of design throughout the creative process.
  • Create original collections for both domestic and global markets.
  • Use relevant techniques in draping, patternmaking, and garment construction for professional projects.
  • Utilize fashion industry technology and software effectively.
  • Employ business practices in the fashion and textile industry.

Why FIDM?

It's simple really: FIDM offers a truly unique career-oriented and reality-based Fashion Design program taught by industry professionals. The program teaches students how to develop their own unique vision.
Executives from fashion companies such as Juicy Couture, Guess Inc., Cotton, Inc., Mattel™, and Disney are guest speakers and mentors for Fashion Design students.
We utilize the latest state-of-the-industry software and technologies in our Fashion Design Labs, where Project Runway: Season 6 was filmed.
Students leave the program with a portfolio that includes traditional sketches, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) sketches, and specification sheets.
It's rewarding pulling all-nighters to get the work finished. When students come to class unshowered and wearing yesterday's clothes because they're so determined to get the work done - this sets us apart from other people who want to work in this crazy industry."-- ANDREW DENALI STEWART, FASHION DESIGN STUDENT.
